6 Common Problems with Sunseeker RV and Their Solutions:

Now that you know about the quick solutions to these problems, let’s get to the bottom of them.

1. Transmission Failing to Shift

The transmission of the Sunseeker RV can give you a lot of trouble. Sometimes, your RV may have trouble shifting beyond 2 gears. Reverse gear might also malfunction.

The most common occurrence of this issue is seen while driving uphill. The shifting might sometimes be delayed. Also, shifting at a higher RMP has also been reported.

The problem might be with the software, fluid, wiring, or the harness.

The Fix:

First of all, clear the memory and reset the computers. This is a unique fix for some models. If that does not work, try updating the software. You should reflash the software on the RV before any diagnostics.

Look for leaking or contaminated transmission fluid. Replace the fluid if necessary.

You should also inspect the wiring for any sign of wears and disconnections. Replace the harness if it is faulty. If all these methods fail, get your transmission system replaced.

2. Windshield Stress Crack

Don’t be shocked if you notice a crack in your windshield one day. Sunseeker customers frequently experience this problem, which is simply a stress crack.

The primary cause of this issue is the windshield’s poor construction. Due to manufacturing flaws, the edge of the windshield is particularly vulnerable to these cracks.

Furthermore, temperature variations might cause the glass to break unexpectedly. On a hot day, washing the windshield with cold water might cause it to crack.

The Fix:

There is nothing you can do to resolve the production issues. But if you find a crack in your windshield and do not want to replace it, consider using resin. Filling the fracture with resin may keep it from spreading further.

If the cracks widen and obstruct the driver’s vision, the windshield should be replaced immediately. Don’t put yourself in any danger.

Also, use caution while cleaning the windshield with hot or cold water. Temperature changes may cause it to break.

3. Black Tank Leaking

On your Sunseeker, the caulking job on the black tank may be inadequate. You don’t want to see the contents of the black tank spilling. You will, however, if the sealing is not done properly.

Many people have expressed their dissatisfaction with this particular issue. Some even had to wipe out the entire tank and replace the caulking.

The Fix:

To resolve the leak, open the compartment holding the dump valves. Then, check to see if any screws are loose. This also contributes to leakage. Tighten the screws in place.

If the leak persists, you will need to empty the black tank. Remove the old caulk using mineral spirits before reapplying the caulk. Then, evenly apply fresh caulk to all sides.

Install big stainless steel bolts as well, as the stock ones are unreliable.

4. AC Failing to Lower the Temperature

Even if you cover all of the windows and switch on the AC in hot weather, the RV may not be cooled.

The air is obstructed by the vent under the AC and the plate within the air distribution box. Additionally, air enters the attic through the gaps beneath the ceiling.

Also, bear in mind that one air conditioner may not be enough to cool the entire RV.

The Fix:

Remove the AC filter plate as well as the dump vent. It will improve the airflow inside your RV.

Uninstall and inspect the ceiling vents. Seal any gaps that you notice between the duct and the ceiling panels.

Covering the gaps with aluminum tape will keep the airflow from escaping. If the RV is still too hot, you should consider installing another AC unit.

5. Auto Level Malfunction

The auto-leveling mechanism might stop working suddenly. After setting the parking brake, if you push the auto-leveling power button, it sometimes fails to respond.

After a while, you will notice that the front and bottom lights are illuminated and have started blinking. It is the notification for a time-out.

The Fix:

To fix this issue, remove the panel. Then, disconnect the wire harness. Then, reconnect it. After a while, you will notice that the auto-leveling mechanism is working again.

Also, do not try to operate the Bigfoot levelers with the key in the ignition. Use this troubleshooting guide for any further trouble.

6. Slide Unable to Move

This is one of the most common problems with the Sunseeker RVs. The slide may become trapped. As a result, pushing the slide outside and inside becomes a major issue.

Driving is not an option if the slide becomes jammed while retracting. This might happen if the slider’s arms are twisted. The arms can also break if too much pressure is applied.

The Fix:

First of all, move the objects away from the inside of the slide. Then, using opposing pressure, try to straighten out the bend.

If the procedure fails, take the RV to the dealer. If you notice that the slide arms are broken, you must replace them immediately.
